Mid-Life Tune Up Program - Level 2

The second chakra is related to the water element and reproductive system. It affects gender, growth, development of secondary sexual characteristics, libido, fertility, as well as the capacity to heal, regenerate, and rejuvenate. It therefore has a great impact on how we age and our longevity. The energies of this chakra also affect how we view childhood and the inner child, and how we understand family roles and parenting.  In addition, its strength or weakness affect social views on such matters as conservatism versus progressiveness.  It is easily wounded and is, in fact, often deeply wounded due to the pervasiveness of child abuse and disappointments in relating.  Many people have a tremendous need for healing both emotional and physical wounds.  Some people will need to spend more than a year working through the issues relating to this chakra.

Second Chakra: Tuning Up the Reproductive System

The reproductive system becomes active almost at the moment of conception. It promotes growth and development of the organs that determine gender and fertility. Normal as this process might seem, it is adversely affected by countless chemicals in our environment, including xenoestrogens and hormone disruptors. It is therefore not a foregone conclusion that Nature will protect us. In addition to the genetic and chemical factors, there are many social influences that determine how we feel about gender and gender differences, how we feel about sex and sexual expression, how we feel about muscles, curves, padding, and pheromones. Up to a point, some issues can be corrected even decades after birth, and most people can also overcome issues of stubborn sterility.  Most important of all, we need to appreciate that the energies we need for growing when young can be used to procreation later and for personal regeneration in the sunset years.

Second Chakra: Fertility & Libido

The title of this course may not seem relevant to some, but fertility is one end of the spectrum spanning procreation and regeneration. Stated another way, the assets we have that allow us to become parents are very similar to those needed when the body needs to make repairs.  Though this is not perhaps 100% true, it is more than 90% true so regardless of what stage of life we are passing, the second chakra needs to be in good working order.

Likewise, libido is not just about satisfaction and pleasure but also about vitality and energy to spare for health and healing.  There are many dietary and herbal strategies for replenishing libido and suggestions for both male and female reproductive systems will be offered.

Second Chakra: Security & Partnership

The sacral center is half of a whole so it has a natural tendency to seek relationship and to experience bonding and the sense of security that comes from intimacy. It is also the chakra in which we define ourselves in terms of domestic roles:  parent or child?  male or female? In today's world, some of the stereotypic roles have become unpopular, but most people still seek some kind of identity through the parts they play in the family or other circles.  One could be a monk or nun and still have a longing for relating as a child or parent, Whether we partner or mentor, dependency is expressed through the water chakra. There are thus  reciprocal relationships based either on equality and completion or interdependency.

Second Chakra: STDs

The second chakra has often sustained serious wounds, everything from gender stereotypes to serious abuse.  It sustains psychological and physical injury and is vulnerable to exploitation, infection, and even life-threatening illnesses, some of which affect our nervous systems and sanity. It is no wonder that people often have to do years of therapy around their experiences. This course does not offer the counseling required, but it may bring the need for such into focus and help to relieve some of the sorrow around having been misused and abused.  The herbal remedies for recovering physical health will be included in this lesson.
